Kunsthaus Baselland

Das Kunsthaus Baselland gehört zu den führenden Ausstellungshäusern für regionale, nationale und internationale zeitgenössische Kunst im Raum Basel. Seit 25 Jahren bietet die Institution Künstler*innen eine bedeutende Plattform für Präsentationen im Rahmen von Einzel-, Gruppen- oder thematischen Ausstellungen. Zahlreiche Kunstschaffende erhalten hier ihren ersten institutionellen Auftritt in der Schweiz oder in Europa. Das kuratorische Programm fokussiert auf das zeitgenössische Kunstgeschehen der Region Basel und bettet dieses in den internationalen Diskurs ein. Darüber hinaus unterstützt und fördert es die Schaffung neuer, ortsspezifischer Werke, die sich mit der Architektur oder der Region Basel auseinandersetzen. Mit dem Umzug nach Münchenstein wurde im April 2024 das neue Gebäude, umgebaut von Buchner Bründler Architekten, auf dem Dreispitz bei Basel eröffnet. Im Verbund mit der dortigen Nachbarschaft, sei es Schaulager, Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst, HEK, Atelier Mondial, Radio X, wichtige Architekturbüros wie jenes von Herzog & de Meuron, sowie viele Anwohner*innen, soll das Kunsthaus Baselland als lebendiger Ort des Austauschs und der fundierten Auseinandersetzung mit zeitgenössischer Kunst als Teil eines aufstrebenden Areals in die Zukunft geführt werden.


The Kunsthaus Baselland is among the leading exhibition venues for regional, national and international contemporary art in the Basel region. Over the last 25 years, the institution has offered artists a platform for artistic exchange in the framework of solo, group or thematic exhibitions. Numerous artists have had their first institutional showing in Switzerland or in Europe here. The curatorial programme is focused on contemporary art in the Basel region, which is positioned within an international discourse through accompanying international and national exhibitions. The Kunsthaus Baselland supports and promotes the creation of new works that enter into dialogue with the Kunsthaus architecture and/or that of the Basel region. With the move to Münchenstein in April 2024, the new building, redesigned by Buchner Bründler Architects, has been opened on the Dreispitz near Basel. Together with the local neighborhood, including Schaulager, the Academy of Design and Art, HEK, Atelier Mondial, Radio X, important architectural firms like Herzog & de Meuron, as well as many residents, the Kunsthaus Baselland is to be led into the future as a lively place of exchange and in-depth engagement with contemporary art as part of a vibrant area.
